Dystopian Sky: Skirmish
A downloadable game
Dystopian Sky: Skirmish is a gritty sci-fi tabletop game where players assemble a crew of four unique units to fight for survival in a dangerous and opportunity-filled galaxy. Players engage in tactical battles across a skirmish map, competing for resources, power, and control. The game features easy-to-learn rules, yet offers significant depth and customization for strategic gameplay.
Players customize their crews by assigning a background, spending skill points to purchase special abilities, and equipping their units with gear from the Armory. Each unit has a unique set of stats including Agility, Brawn, Focus, and Tech, that influence movement, combat, and resistance to status effects. Units gain experience by downing enemies, surviving battles, and participating in various game modes, which can be used to level up and gain access to better gear and abilities. The game features a variety of different weapons manufacturers, providing a range of customization options for players to explore.
Combat in Dystopian Sky: Skirmish is dynamic and tactical, incorporating elements such as line-of-sight, cover, and effective range. Players use actions each turn to move, attack, use skills, and interact with the environment. Status effects like Bleed, Burn, and Poison can significantly impact battles. Units can also suffer lasting consequences from near-death experiences known as Trauma, which can result in permanent stat modifications, forcing players to adapt. The game utilizes dice rolls for combat and skill checks, emphasizing strategic planning and adaptation.
The game features a variety of game modes, including Deathmatch, Salvage, Contamination, Dropship, and Duos, each offering unique objectives and challenges. Dystopian Sky: Skirmish also includes a "rules-light" role-playing game option, allowing players to explore the setting with a Game Master and story-based scenarios, using the game's core mechanics as a foundation for character development and storytelling. Dystopian Sky: Skirmish offers a rich universe, tactical gameplay, and vast customization that will draw you into a world of conflict, opportunity, and survival. Whether you prefer the strategic depth of skirmish battles or the narrative freedom of role-playing, this game provides countless possibilities to explore.
